(Joint Crisis Committee) (THE WAR OF THE ROSES)

The War of the Roses, known as the Civil Wars at the time and in the centuries that followed, were a series of civil wars fought for control of the English throne from 1455 to 1487. The wars were fought between the supporters of the House of Lancaster and the House of York, two rival branches of the Plantagenet royal family. The conflict ended in 1471 when the male line of Lancaster was extinguished, leaving the Tudor family to inherit their claim to the throne through the female line. The conflict largely ended when the two houses were united through marriage, establishing the Tudor dynasty, which would later rule England.
